Sugar coating machine

This Serton designed and engineered machine is custom made for use in continuous donut production lines to give a fine outer coating of sugar. The machine is integrated into the line just after the final donut frying stage. The donuts are placed on a bed of sugar and a stream of sugar flows over the surface to give an even all-round coating. Excess sugar is removed and recycled. One feature of this machine is that during the coating process the donuts are not rolled over, thus simplifying the packaging process in the case where there are distinct upper and lower sides to the donut. The machine is designed to be easily cleaned, with all bearings and as many moving parts as possible isolated from the sugar, and sugar wastage is minimised.
